We put together the Top Beaches of the Year, based on public opinion as seen in the most important Travel websites such as TripAdvisor, Fodor’s and others. It is a difficult task to decide which beach is better than the other, because they are all spectacular. On our page about Beach Getaways we try to cover another ten.

Ambergris Caye in Belize Central America
It is called by some “La Isla Bonita”. Ambergris is Belize’s largest island located in the Western Caribbean on the Belize Barrie Reef, which is the second largest in the world after Australia’s.

Tetiaroa, Marlon Brando’s Island in the French Polynesia
Tetiaroa Atoll was bought by late actor Marlon Brando that converted it into his heaven in the South Pacific. It is an entire atoll of 580 hectares in area.
He purchased it in 1965 when filming “Mutiny on the Bounty” and lived there on and off for many years.
The atoll was recently bought by a Tahiti hotelier who plans to build a luxury Eco-Resort that will be called “The Brando”
Playa Dorada in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic
It is located west of Puerto Plata airport in the Dominican Republic and is the home to both Casa Colonial Beach & Spa and Gran Ventana Beach Resort.
This is a self contained complex with a choice of 15 resorts, shopping malls, restaurants, discos, casinos and above all 20 Km of sandy beach on the open Atlantic Ocean.

Baía do Sancho in Fernando de Noronha, Brazil
This has been named many times as the Best Beach in the World. Fernando de Noronha is a paradisiacal archipelago off the coast of Brazil in the Atlantic Ocean.
Its crystal clear waters that shift from light blue to emerald green as the day goes by, the white sands and the surrounding coral reefs are loyal to their title.

Rabbit Beach on the Island of Lampedusa Italy
Lampedusa is an island part of the Pelagic Archipelago, midway between the coasts of Tunisia and the Island of Sicily.
Rabbit Beach, translated from Italian “Spiaggia dei Conigli”, seems to belong to the South pacific for its spectacular beauty. It is by far, one of the top attractions of the island and considered one of the most beautiful beaches in the world in general and in Europe in particular.

Platja de ses Illetes on the Island of Formentera, Spain
This beautiful and virgin beach is not very big but the natural settings complement its size.
It is located on the Island of Formentera one of the Four Balearic Islands of which the most famous of all is lovely Ibiza Island.
It is very popular beach and one of the reasons is the Nude Bathing is permitted. Also the splendid marine life surrounding the island is awesome and attracts thousands of divers to its shores.
The accessibility by car is easy following the signs and the deviations. The private car, moped or bicycle can be left on a free parking area in the surroundings.
Playa Norte in Isla Mujeres Mexico
This is a stretch of beach on the northern side of Isla Mujeres. The waters are shallow and the sands as white as they come. The beach is full of restaurants, bars and hotels, so it may get very crowded during weekends and peak season.
It is easy to find in these tiny island, just head north through any of the streets and you’ll find it.
The waters here are purely Caribbean, cool and clean. This beach offers many water sports, facilities such as sun beds and umbrellas besides showers and toilets.
Beaches on the Island of Hvar, Croatia
Hvar Island is one of the Croatian islands off the Dalmatian Coast. The island has a rich history of many centuries.
The beaches of Hvar are sandy and are located mainly on the northern side of the island due to the strength of the northern winds. The waves are stronger ideal for windsurfing and water skiing.

The Maldives, located on the Indian Ocean, southwest of India consist of a few hundred islands most of them uninhabited.
Maldives Beaches are paradisiacal, made of white powdery sands and surrounded by crystal clear waters, the dream of every diver or snorkeler.
The country’s capital is Male situated on an enchanted lagoon and there are many resorts on and near the capital.
Besides diving, there are many sports available such as water-skiing, fishing, surfing and many more.
