Tasmania Beaches are among the best in Australia. Tasmania, nicknamed “Tassie” or just plain “Tas” is an island state off the southern coast of Australia including the island and 334 smaller islands around it. Its capital and largest city is Hobart. Wineglass Bay Beach is one of the top Beaches of Tasmania
This beach is part of the Freycinet National Park on a beautiful bay, an ideal crescent of white powdery sands and crystal clear blue waters, surrounded by pink granite peaks known as The Hazards.
When visiting Freycinet National Park, wake up early to enjoy a walk on the bay and perhaps you’ll have it all for yourself.
This beach is great for snorkeling and swimming, although the water may be cold even in the peak of summer. At the end of the peninsula there are another two lovely beaches, Cooks and Bryans.
Friendly Beaches in Tasmania is a paradise for surfers
This is a paradise for surfers. Located on the east coast of Tasmania, this is one of the wildest beaches in Tassie. This beach is known for its tidal movements and strong currents. That said it is not recommended for inexperienced swimmers, and the beach doesn’t feature any lifeguards.
This beach is also part of the Freycinet National Park which is abundant in native wildlife.
Clifton Beach home to the Clifton Beach Surf Life Saving Club
Located southeast of Hobart, this is a surfing beach and home of Clifton Beach Surf Life Saving Club, which was established in 1963. The beach is bordered by 54 meters high Cape Deslacs in the east and 50 meters high rocky cliffs in the west.
It is a 2 Km beach facing the southeast with waves of an average 1 to 1.5 meters. It is not safe for swimming, because of such high waves.
Richardsons Beach on the Island of Tasmania
It is located between the town of Coles Bay and Freycinet Lodge. It is a safe beach for swimmers.
Sailors and kayakers also prefer this beach and explore Oyster Bay and beyond. There are camping facilities on the sands and some more comfortable accommodations in nearby Freycinet Lodge
Due to being so popular with water sports fans, it may be difficult to find lodging during the peak season.
Is located also on the Freycinet National Park and is one of Tassie’s favorites. From Cole Bay you may reach Wine Glass Beach.
Bay of Fires
Is located on the northeast coast of Tasmania in a region of white sand beaches and incredible rock formations.
Is located northeast of Hobart, the capital on the east coast is a friendly experience, do not miss it.
Is located on the southern end of Bay of Fires. The views of Binalong Bay from this beach are awe inspiring.
Cloudy Bay Beach on Bruny Island offshore of Tasmania
This beach is located on Bruny Island inside the South Bruny National Park, just a short boat ride from Tasmania. It attracts some of the world’s top surfers. The Bruny Island Surf Classic is held here every January
There are camping facilities available if you plan to stay overnight. We have to mention that the waves here are a bit strong, so use your judgment while surfing of swimming here.

Beer Barrel Beach
Located on the northeast of Tasmania, it is one of the prettiest beaches of the area. It features white powdery sands, sparkling clear waters, good waves and above all some solitude, except during school holidays.
This is the type of beach where you may bring a few towels and some lunch and relax for a few hours.
