Sydney Beaches in particular and Australian Beaches in
general, are gorgeous and visited by millions when it’s summer in Australia and
freezing cold in America or Europe.
Sydney is a huge metropolis, so the beaches
are scattered south center and north of the big city. Let me show you a few of
the best. I based my information the best Travel Magazines and Travel sites as
well as my experience as a travel agent sending people to Australia for
decades.
Tamarama is one of the Beaches of Sydney Australia
Tamarama Beach
This is a rather small beach with nice sands and deep waters. The surf is excellent for body surfers and body boarders. Even though it is near to other beaches where the action is, Tamarama is a secluded beach frequented by the Rich and Famous that come mainly for sun bathing.
There are few amenities and a park on the back of the beach with one café. It is also a great place to see the runners from beaches to beaches like Bondi to Bronte runners.
Bondi is by far the # 1 of Sydney Beaches
Bondi Beach Sydney
It is Australia’s most renowned beach and you may see it featured on some of my pages. It is sometimes over populated by locals and tourists alike.
It is a sparking beach favorite with those lovers of scenery. There are many bars and restaurants as well as many hotels catering to tourists coming to enjoy the Australian summer when it is freezing up north.
The northern part of the beach is more appropriate for swimmers and sun bathers, especially if you go on a weekday and earlier in the morning. That way you will really appreciate what this beach has to offer.
In summary this is a great beach which keeps its charm without becoming arrogant like many other World Famous Beaches.
Bilgola
Bilgola is hidden away at the bottom of a hill, behind a jungle of palm trees. Iff you’re not paying attention you’ll miss it. For this reason, Bilgola is perhaps the most beautiful of the Northern Beaches. In the late afternoon, I’d recommend having a beer at one of the most picturesque surf life saving clubs in the country.
Golden sands and turquoise waters in Bronte Beach Sydney
Bronte Beach
This laid back beach is a lovely one. It is ideal for long walks to and from Bondi Beach and then dive into the clear waters.
There are plenty cafes and restaurants where to by breakfast or luch and even take it with you to the beach and enjoy it while looking at the waves.
The far end of the beach is a family area, maybe because the swimming is so safe. In any particular day you may see people going to the nearby park and enjoy their BBQ at the shores of this beach.
The near end of the beach is less crowded and offers also good swimming, just the waves are not so high to accommodate surfers.
Manly Beach is one of the most attractive ones in Sydney
Manly Beach
It was named after the State’s first governor Alfred Phillip manly in 1978. Together with Bondi this is one of the most attractive Sydney beaches.
You reach this beach with a ferry that is by itself a great experience especially for tourists. The ride offers great picture opportunities.
Once on the beach you may enjoy swimming, surfing a sun bathing in a relax ambiance.
Freshwater Beach
It is the first beach north of Manly and it is made of rocks forming beautiful pools. It is considered the birthplace of Surfing in Australia. Legend tells about a Hawaiian surfer showing off in this beach in the early twentieth century.
It is about 300 meters long and located between two headlands. It has few amenities among them a restaurant and bar.
Avalon Beach north of Sydney is ideal for surfing
Avalon Beach
This is another quiet beach going north from Sydney. It is shared by families and surfers. It has a few amenities and a few bars.
Whale Beach
It is a little far from the city but the visit is worth a try, so be prepared for a day trip, taking lunch with you or eating in one of the restaurants. It is one of the most beautiful beaches in the north.
Shelly Beach
You may get here by walking along Manly’s main street. As with Manly you get theee by ferry. The surroundings are fabulous for a picnic among lush vegetation and lots of marine life in the waters. The beach is great for swimming and also surfing on open Australia waters.
Palm Beach is an upscale beach in Sydney Australia
Palm Beach Sydney
This is a fancy beach with beautiful high class residences. It is one of the favorite Sydney beaches. Come for the day and bring your lunch, since restaurants could be a little outside the budget.
Palm Beach is the exclusive, high end of Sydney's long stretch of the Northern Beaches
Coogee Beach
Here the crowd is of back packers and young people. There are many restaurants bars and cafes. Located on Sydney’s east this beach is full of bargains and sometimes quiet busy. But the vist has its rewards for families, young couples and surfers.
The catch is getting there early. I recommend this all over my site. Those coming early get the best spots and avoid the crowds at noon time.

Narrabeen Beach north of Sydney is great for a
Family Beach Vacation
Narrabeen Beach
Located in North Sydney this stunning beach is famous with surfers and swimmers alike. It is 3 km long beach with great sands and clear waters.
I hope you enjoyed our Sydney Beaches tour. Australia is a dram for many Americans and Europeans. Now with the open skies and low fares it can be a reality.
