Naxos Beaches are spectacular, they are the typical Greek Island Beaches, with long stretches of sand surrounded by fertile land and an absence of vegetation and impressive geological formations

Naxos is the largest of the group of the Cyclades Islands in the South Aegean Sea. Its capital is called Naxos and also known as Hora, a port town with whitewashed houses and medieval Venetian mansions. Kastro is a hilltop castle dating to the 13th century, home to an archaeological museum.

Plaka Beach

This is one the best beaches in Naxos extending for 4 km. The sands are beautiful and the waters crystal clear. It used to be a nudist beach in the 70s and now is a very popular beach. It is still a favorite for nudists and naturists who come here mostly off season. But during the year is a perfect family beach ideal for a quiet swim and sun bathing.

During the high season, since it is so full with families, the nudists are “forced” top gather at the very end towards the south of this long idyllic beach.

Plaka can be accessed via the route that connects it with Agios Prokopios and Agia Anna beaches. It is asphalt road till you get to Agia Anna and a coastal dirt road of very good condition after that.

There a few hotels as well as studios and apartments for rent, most of them family owned units. Here you’ll find many taverns with excellent samples of local cuisine.





Psili Ammos Beach

It is situated at the east side of Naxos, between Moutsouna and Panormos. It is a wide beach named after the quality of its sand, thin and white, it has a touch of tropical landscape, as just inside its sand dunes grow tall cedar trees. The beach is very quiet without interventions to its natural landscape.

Pyrgaki Beach

It is right after Aliko at about 22 km from Hora. The scenery combines the gold sand dunes with the intense cedar tree vegetation. It is ideal for water sports far from the crowds of other beaches.


Panormos Beach

This is a hidden cove, completely deserted as the name in Greek implies. It is a great spot for fishing. The access to this beach is through the village of Moutsouna on the eastern portion of the island. Going there you’ll get a glimpse of the natural beauty of Naxos.

Agios Prokopis Beach

It is one of the most popular of Naxos Beaches, about 5 km from Hora. It is characterized by white thing sand forming sand dunes.

Due to its position it is protected from the winds, especially at the northern end, where a huge rock blocks the waves, offering the visitor a serene and quiet swimming experience.

You may visit the chapel of Agios Prokopis, located at the entrance of the beach with a magnificent view of the open sea. In special spots of the beach. Nudism is allowed at certain parts of this beach.


Orkos Beach

This beach is located after Plaka going southward. It is a pebble beach divided into different portions covered by cedar trees. The beach is not organized with services and restaurants. Bring your own lunch and drinks and enjoy this beach.

Glyfada Beach

It is located about 17 km from Hora after Kastraki Beach. It is ideal for a quiet and calm day at the beach, providing very few accommodations. It is a sandy beach with clear waters. Going there make sure to take a vew of this beach from the hill of Oskelos.

Apollonas Beach

This one is located at the northern part of the Island of Naxos, about 35 km from Hora. During recent years this village has been developed considerably. It is a spectacular rocky settlement of pebble beach and crystal waters with many taverns, gift and souvenir shops and limited accommodation units.

Just outside of Apollonas, at the entrance of an old mine you will find the ancient sculpture of Kouros dating back to the 6th century BC. The sculpture depicts the God Dionysus an is 10 meters long.
