Greece Beaches are not only beaches; they are the playground of Europe during summers. They can be enjoyed year round because of the mild weather of the area, but they are mostly visited on summers by tourists from all over Europe and the rest of the world.
Egremni Beach on the Island of Lefkada, Greece
I love the Greek Islands, You'll love them too
Greece has a huge coastline of about 15,000 Km or about 9,000 miles. These are approximate numbers. Surrounding the mainland are the Aegean and Ionian Seas that are the home of about 1,400 Greek Islands of which about 225 are inhabited.
The best Greek Beaches are on the islands and some on the mainland. They are some of the most beautiful in the world.
Since they have been a source of tourism income for generations, Greece Beaches are mostly well organized and offer the necessary services needed for an enjoyable beach day.
They are all full of restaurants and cafes offering the delights of Greek hospitality and incredible nightlife in some of them, like Mykonos for example.
On the side of the Ionian Sea there are just a few islands, being
Corfu and Kefalonia the most important.
On the Aegean Sea the islands are divided into a few groups. The groups are Dodecanese Islands, Sporades, Cyclades, Saronic, and Northeastern Aegean Islands. The world’s known and best Greek Islands are Mykonos, Santorini, Rhodes and Crete.
All other Greece Beaches are as beautiful as these and we are going to virtually visit them also.
Elias Beach on the Island of Mykonos
Mykonos is the most popular of all Greek Islands
Some of the most spectacular Greece Beaches are the following, although in not any particular order:
Balos Beach in the Island of Crete is located in the Gramvoussa Peninsula on the northwest of the island. This is one of the most beautiful of Greece Beaches but very difficult to reach due to bad or inexistent roads. Even if you get there by car you will have to hike down and later up.
There is a way to enjoy this beach. The idea is going by boat from the nearby port of Kastelli in Kissamos west of Chania.
You will pass through the islets of Agria and Imeri, to the beach of Balos, where you will be met by the clearest of waters and very white sands. The waters are shallow, so it’s ideal for Family Beach Vacations.
Sarakiniko Beach on the Island of Milos
Sarikiniko Beach is located in the island of Milos. Of all the island’s Greece beaches this one is the most beautiful. It is located on the coastal road east of Adamas.
The landscape is just unforgettable and I’m sure you’ll take many pictures to show back home. The big rocks eroded by millennium of wind and sea have small hollows all over them. The combination of the turquoise waters and the white sands are awe inspiring.
Navagio Beach on the Island of Zakynthos, Greece
The Beach of Navagio, meaning shipwreck, is on the Island of Zakynthos and is one of the most famous of the beaches of Greece. It is for sure the pride of Zakynthos and many tourists attest to that fact.
It is located on the eastern section of the island close to a village called Anafotiria for a shipwreck of a boat that is still there surrounded by sands.
It is a memorable experience to see the remaining of the seas in the middle of a white sand beach surrounded by crystal blue waters.
You may reach this heaven by boat from Porto Vromi and the ride takes about 30 minutes by taxi-Boat.
Myrtos Beach on the Island of Kefalonia Greece
Many have heard about this paradise located on the Island of Kefalonia on the Ionian Sea. The capital of Kefalonia is Argostoli and the beach is located north of it. This is one of the Best Greece Beaches.
It is really an impressive beach with clear blue waters and fine golden sands. Like in many of the island’s beaches it is surrounded by huge vertical cliffs.
The beach offers services of bars, umbrellas and chairs for the delight of the visitors.
the whole place is surrounded by impressive and majestic vertical rocky cliffs.
This pure paradise is one of the most photographed places in Greece and attracts thousands of visitors every summer. A snack-bar, sun beds and umbrellas rentals are available on the beach.
Egremni Beach is located on the south west of the Island of Lefkada, also called Levkas or Lefkas. To enjoy this beach the only way to reach it is by a dirt road that starts near the village of Athani.
When the road ends you’ll find enough space to park the car and you still have to go down almost 300 steps to reach the beach.
It is worth the effort, because you are presented with a long beach, abrupt cliffs and blue waters. There are many services like umbrellas and beach bars.
Vai Beach is located near Chania on the Island of Crete
The Beach of Plaka is located on the Island of Naxos. It is considered the longest of all Greece Beaches on the Cyclades Islands. The sands are white and the waters particularly bluish green.
It is actually a continuation of the beaches of Agia Anna and Agios Prokopis. It is a Nudist favorite, but is also welcomes couples and families to its sands.
It is quite a long beach of about 4 Km and offers sun beds, umbrellas and many beach bar. You may reach the beach via an asphalt road until Agia and continue on a very well preserved dirt road to the beach.
Super paradise Beach on the Island of Mykonos, Greece
Super Paraside Beach
This Mykonos beach is located south east of Mykonos Town. It is very exclusive and lacks hotels making it a must for repeating visitors over the years.
It is said that the beach is mostly a Gay Beach but my research says that it is also popular with couples. Nudism is tolerated and in a few remote parts nudism is “mandatory”.
It is set on a deep bay and has a restaurant and a disco bar which reverberates with music day and night.
This beach like others in Mykonos attracts many jet-setters and you may even find a celebrity here and there or maybe seating next to you at the bar.
If you want some relax time on the beach go there early, because once the afternoon arrives the place becomes wild with music and in the evening the beach becomes an actual club with people dancing on the platforms or drinking their favorite drinks.
Kalathas Beach on the Island of Crete, Greece
A few more Greece Beaches
Located near Chania in Crete, Kalathas Beach is quite an experience. It is one of the most popular of Crete Beaches.
It has accommodation, restaurants and a variety of diving facilities. The waters are shallow, making the beach suitable for families with small children.
The action on this beach is mainly during summer when the taverns open and the nightlife explodes. It is a rather small beach of about 150 meters and a white strip of sand overlooking a small island in front of it. Here you may find umbrellas and sun beds .
Its claim to fame is the famous movie “Zorba the Greek” with Anthony Queen was filmed here.
Lindos Beach and Lindos Castle on the background in the Island of Rhodes
It is located in the little bay of Agios Pavlos, meaning St Paul, very close to the village of Lindos in Rhodes, about 50 Km from the capital with the same name, Rhodes.
We visited Lindos when sailing the Aegean Islands. On the Rhodes stop they offered this tour. The Acropolis of Rhodes is a replica of the larger one in Athens.
The beach is surrounded by rocks giving the visitor the opportunity to dive into the clear turquoise waters. The beach is a mix of sand and pebbles. They offer umbrellas and sun beds besides kiosks of carts with refreshment.

Myrtidiotissa is one of the beaches of Corfu, Greece
Myrtidiotissa is an incredibly beautiful beach in Corfu, the island on the Ionian Sea. To reach the beach you shouls park your car at the Monastery and walk about 15 minutes.
Do not drive down to the beach, you may enjoy the place but be left out of your car. In the north side of the beach it is topless sunbathing and some nudism.
On the south side it is nudist with singles, couples and families enjoying and caring about their own business. The beach offers restaurant and cantina besides sun beds and umbrellas. The waters of the Ionian are deep blue and very clear.
