Cancun  Beaches
Among the World's Best

Cancun Beaches are among the most beautiful in the world. Cancun is located on the northeastern tip of the Yucatan Peninsula only 90 minutes by plane from Miami, Florida.

Top Beach Resort in Mexico

Cancun was just sand and sea about forty years ago when some Mexican visionaries and the President at that time decided to develop this “corner” of the Mexican Caribbean.

Today Cancun is a center of tourism with tourists coming from every corner of the world and has been developed to a maximum using every single stretch of beach to build the most magnificent resorts and hotels in the Caribbean.

We went to Cancun for the first time in 1978 and I can attest that it was a small town with just a few hotels like Camino Real where we stayed. During the years it has been growing non-stop and even with the set backs of several hurricanes it is now the greatest tourist center of the Mexican Caribbean.

Cancun Beaches

The beaches are legendary and with good cause. The powdery white sand, of the Caribbean blesses all of the beaches in Cancun. The Caribbean Sea is unusually warm with incredibly blue water and at most times is very calm. Look down any beach, at almost any time, and you will see people enjoying the calming effects that seem to instantly relieve the tensions of everyday life.

There are many beaches to mention. Here I am going to mention the most recognized white sand and crystal water beaches. These are excellent beaches for water sports and swimming. The waters are calm, the beaches are clean and there are nice hotels here too. The docks from which the Cruises, shuttles, and water taxis depart for Isla Mujeres are located on the north beach side.

East Side Beaches

In this side of town the beaches have an Ocean side and a Lagoon side. Most of the hotels are located on the Ocean side. Most of the action takes place on the Ocean side but the Lagoon side is great for jet skis, kayaks and other rental water equipment.

The beaches of the ocean side are awesome. They are white powdered and clean. Here the protection of Isla Mujeres does not exist; therefore the waves could be big at times. For those who like to play with the waves, the place is ideal.

  • Playa Marlín – This beach is good for relaxing, swimming and water sports.
  • Playa Delfines – This is also very good for swimming and relaxing.
  • Playa Ballenas – In the popular Cancun beach you’ll find bars and restaurants. You’ll find many Watersports offered here.
  • San Miguelito – Besides the relaxing beach there are many Mayan ruins located here.
  • Punta Nizuc – Many of the exclusive resorts are located here.

  • Playa Las Perlas - Good place for swimming, relaxing and varied water sports. You can also get the shuttle to Isla Mujeres here. There are restaurants and bars located along the coast here as well.

  • Playa Tortugas - Swimming, water sports, restaurants and bars are located along this clean beach. There is also a dock with shuttles to Isla Mujeres. From here you may take a scuba or snorkeling tour.
  • Playa Caracol - This is a great beach for children because of the shallow flat sandy seabed. It is also one of the most crowded beaches along the strip. There are restaurants, bars and numerous activities here.
  • Playa Linda - Starting point of Diving tours and also the shuttle to Isla Mujeres departs from here.
  • Playa Langosta or Lobster Beach – This is a clean beach good for swimming, water sports. It features Restaurants and bars.

Despite the fact that you’ll find many Cancun Activities, there are many optional tours you can take to enhance your trip.

In front of Cancun there is a small island called Isla Mujeres Mexico which has been developed as a “Chic” place with beautiful beaches, shops and restaurants. It is just a short ferry ride from Cancun.

Heading south you are in the Mayan Riviera that stretches all the way to the border with Belize. The beaches of the Mayan Riviera as Cancun are some of the most beautiful in the planet. The sands are white and like baby powder and the waters are turquoise and crystal clear.

In the Mayan Riviera you may visit Maroma Beach, definitely one of the most beautiful beaches I saw in my life, Puerto Morelos, Playa del Carmen, Tulum Ruins and the Eco-Parks of Xcaret and Xel Ha

Cancun Beaches are Mexico's showcase resort. The original developers and the Mexican government can be proud of what they have accomplished here. Cancun has been carefully groomed into one of the most polished resorts anywhere. Everything just seems to flow together effortlessly in Cancun. This is one of the reasons that Cancun is Mexico's most popular resort.
