Bora Bora Beaches on one of the islands of the French Polynesia in the South Pacific. It is a tiny island just 18 miles long and in the middle a lagoon surrounded by pristine white sand beaches and turquoise clear waters.
Some call it the Romantic island because it inspires many lovers to spend some quality time on its secluded beaches, cozy hotels and relaxed ambiance.

to get to Bora Bora
No matter where you come from, you’ll have to arrive to Papeete Tahiti, the main island of the archipelago. It takes about 7 hours from the US west coast or approximately the same from the main cities on the Orient and Australia.
Once in Papeete you may take a small plane that will land in Bora Bora’s small airport. What you see from your plane is awe inspiring. The dramatic blue waters will take your breath away. You are arriving to these South Pacific Islands with some of the top beaches of the world.
Gorgeous Matira Beach in Bora Bora
All the beaches of this small island surround this beach that has been named among the top ten beaches in the world. There are many activities on the beach, so don’t think you came here just to sunbath and swim. First if you walk around you’ll find lots of memorabilia about World War II, since the island was a refueling base form American Troops. You will see many military landmarks remembering these years.
If you are looking for great views, the best snorkeling and lots of marine life, this is the place to be. Bora Bora is not the quiet fishing village that some imagine. Around the lagoon there is a barrier reef with low lying coral atolls that protect the north and west sides of the island.
The main town on the island is Vaitape located on the west coast. There are a few shops in town as well as a large market catering to tourists. There are also many small boats that provide access to the neighboring little islands.

Resort on the waters of Matira Point Bora Bora
Matira Point located on the southern tip of the island is the main tourism center and it is where Matira beach is located. There are many resorts on either side of the beach which I am going to mention here.
North of Matira on Pofai Bay lies one of best stretches of white sand on the island an also some of the best snorkeling on the island.
Off the north coast you’ll see many tiny islands between Tevarioa and Motu Mute. Many day visitors frequent these islands that are idyllic for snorkeling. On the east side there is a thin long stretch of island where you can spend time walking of the sandy shores and shaded by palm trees.
